PLAYERS OF THE WEEK (March 12)

Reed, DNehring, Laniel

The SJHL Player of the Week for the period ending March 12th is 1987 born forward Kyle Reed of the Notre Dame Hounds.

Reed scored three goals and four points in two wins over the Melville Millionaires this past week.  The two wins allowed the Hounds to sweep Melville out of the SJHL playoffs and send Notre Dame into the Sherwood Conference final where they will play Yorkton.

Reed collected two goals in a 6-3 win in game three of the series Tuesday night.  He also took the wind out of the sails of the Mils two nights later when he scored in the final minute of the second period to put Notre Dame up 3-0 in the fourth and final game.  Reed also drew an assist earlier in the period on a goal by Dan Erlandson.

For the playoffs, the 6'1 175 lbs native of Calgary has stepped up his game with 5-goals and 2-assists in 8-games.  During the regular season, he had 11-goals and 18-assists in 49-games.

Other players considered for the award were Don Kerfoot and Mitch Woods of Battlefords.
