SJHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has announced 20-year-old Battlefords forward Michael George as the Sherwood Player of the Month for November.
George had points in eleven of his team's twelve games during the month and also compiled three four-point games (November 8th versus Kindersley, November 18th against Flin Flon, and November 22nd versus Yorkton). He led all SJHL players during the month with 12-goals and 11-assists in 12-games.
The 6'1", 195 Ibs native of North Battleford SK leads the SJHL scoring parade with 47-points in 31-games on the season. His play has been a big reason why the Stars went the entire month without a regulation time loss (11-0-0-1).
Other players to receive consideration were Melfort's Jeff Hajner (13-7-13-20), La Ronge's Codie Pedersen (13-6-11-17), and Estevan's Kyle Pellerin (11-8-6-14).
SJHL GOALIE OF THE MONTH
The SJHL Itech Goaltender of the Month is 19-year-old Jonathan Laniel of the Battlefords North Stars.
Laniel makes the November monthly award winners a clean sweep for the North Stars as Michael George won the Player of the Month.
The Laval PQ native led all SJHL puckstoppers in wins, goals against average, and save percentage. Laniel was 7-0-0-and-1 with a 2.13-GAA and .932-SPCT. The Nipawin Hawks beat him in overtime by a score of 3-2 on November 12th. Laniel gave up one goal and made 37-saves on November 4th against Melfort. He also ended the month with 22-saves against Kindersley in a 4-1 win.
On the season, Laniel 16-4-0-and-2 with a 2.46-GAA and a SPCT of .915. He also has one shutout.
