GEIGER, GULBRAA, SMITH, BRUNO, CAMPBELL ALL TRADED
Three separate, non related, trades involving four Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League teams were announced on Wednesday afternoon.
In the biggest move, the Flin Flon Bombers traded 1985 born forward Clayton Geiger to the Battlefords North Stars for 1985 forward Jesse Gulbraa and 1987 born defenseman Evan Smith.
Geiger scored 2-goals and 2-assists in 8-games with the Bombers this season. He had been with the team since the mid 2003-04 campaign when he was acquired from the Yorkton Terriers. The Kennedy native served as Flin Flon's captain and Battlefords Head Coach Glen Watson feels his acquisition is exactly what the team is looking for. "He's a gritty guy who should help us down the middle. He has great leadership qualities and I'm looking forward to having him in our line-up."
Gulbraa had scored 1-goal and 4-assists in 9-games with the Stars. Joining the 6'0", 190 Ibs native of Irma on the way to Flin Flon is rookie defenseman Smith of Outlook. Smith, 6'3" 165 Ibs, had one assist in five games.
Meanwhile, the Weyburn Red Wings have traded 1986 born goaltender Chris Bruno to the Miramichi Timberwolves of the MarJHL for future considerations, believed to be a player agreed upon by both teams by December 1st.
Bruno was 2-3-0-and-1 with a 3.49-GAA and .879-SPCT. He became expendable when Russel Monette returned from the Saskatoon Blades. Jason Lindner is Weyburn's other netminder.
The Kindersley Klippers have traded 1985 born forward Chase Campbell to the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the AJHL for future considerations.
This will be Campbell's third team of the season. He played four games with Humboldt and six with the Klippers. In total, Campbell had 1-goal, 1-assist, 49-penalty minutes in 10-games. Back
